Today is officially the first day of my one week journey to the other half of the island of Hispaniola: Haiti.
Not my original plans but after a mixed series of events including, my friend changing her plans to go home for spring break which subsequently changed my plans; the girl who invited me on the trip to Haiti gets cold feet and decides not to go; my frantic worry that I would spend spring break at home or here in Tallahassee; and my ever growing collection/consumption of pills to cure my early stages of sinusitus; I am one step closer to leaving!
Today I will pack my clothes, wash my dishes, and straighten up my room in order to leave Tallahassee by 1 PM. The group has rented a van/truck/minibus to drive to Ft Lauderdale in order to catch a 7:45 am flight to port-au-prince on Sunday. I ought to start now, but I've had a long day and I need this sleep now to have any resemblance to sanity tomorrow!
Purpose of a travel journal - to journal the journey more elegantly than pictures or after thought dexcriptions could do in hopes to better remember wonderful visual experiences. This will be the first enstallment in my travel journal series where I document daily my foreign travel.
